The NMAFP exists to improve the health of the people of New Mexico by supporting and advancing the specialty of family medicine and serving the needs of our members.

What is a Family Physician?

A family physician is a medical doctor who specializes in family medicine. Family doctors provide continuity of care for individuals and families over their life span. The specialty integrates body, mind, and spirit in caring for the whole patient. The scope of family medicine encompasses all ages, genders, organ systems, and disease entities. Family medicine physicians provide primary care for life.

Chapter Staff

Sara Bittner joined NMAFP in July 2004 as the Executive Director. Before coming to the organization, she directed another professional organization of healthcare providers.
