Urgent Care Project Advisory Group

The AAFP is pleased to announce the formation of the Urgent Care Project Advisory Group (UC-PAG). This group will focus on obtaining insights and feedback from family physicians practicing in urgent care settings on the following items:

  • Identify gaps in AAFP resources, if any, that would better support family physicians practicing in urgent care settings.
  • Identify opportunities to strengthen care coordination, communication, and continuity between urgent care settings and patients’ family medicine physician, with the goal of improving patient outcomes and reinforcing the value of longitudinal primary care relationships.
  • Identify potential collaborations with other organizations that would strengthen AAFP’s leadership role in the urgent care space and position the organization to shape public and private policies impacting care delivery at urgent care sites.
  • Provide recommendations on opportunities for the AAFP to strengthen engagement with family physicians who practice in urgent care settings and to better support their professional development and practice needs.

Additionally, the UC-PAG will host a moderated listening session with family physicians practicing in urgent care centers to secure feedback on the challenges, opportunities, and evolving role of family physicians in urgent care delivery.

We are seeking individual family physicians who have current work experience in an urgent care center, either full or part-time. Interested individuals should apply here: Urgent Care PAG Nomination Form. Nominations are due by August 14, 2026.

The UC-PAG will launch its work on September 1, 2026, and will prepare and submit a written report to the AAFP EVP & CEO on or before August 30, 2027.
